Edward Hurley, 64, of Kimper, KY, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Pikeville Medical Center. He was born May 4, 1953 in Williamson, WV a son of the late Fonso and Sadie Mae Fields Hurley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Roy Lee Hurley; one grandson: Jerry Lee Leedy; and a daughter-in-law: Michelle Slone.
Edward was a retired coalminer from having worked for McCoy-Elkhorn Coal Corporation. He loved going to church and was a member of the Tabernacle of Praise in Pikeville, KY. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife: Opal Hurley of Kimper, KY; one son: Gregory James Slone of Olivet, MI; one daughter: Heather Marie Justice of Pikeville, KY; two brothers: Darrell (Sharon) Hurley of Lexington, KY; Melvin Hurley of Sidney, KY; three grandchildren: Eden Marie Leedy, Abigail Noel Grace Justice, Allena Brooke Justice; three great-grandchildren: Gatlin Lee Leedy, Mia Lashay Leedy, Zoee Diana Leedy; and a host of family & friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Jones & West Funeral Home with Reverends Michael West, David Norman & Johnathan Oney officiating.
Burial will follow in the Fields Cemetery, Phelps, KY with family & friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Thursday & Friday at the funeral home with special services nightly at 7:00 P.M.
