Boyd Hurley, 73, of Phelps, KY, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the Good Shepherd Community Nursing Center. He was born October 24, 1944 at Pikeville, KY, a son of the late Frank & Clemmie Jean Blankenship Hurley. In addition to his parents, Boyd was also preceded in death by one brother: Ronnie “Runt Hole” Hurley.
Boyd was a disabled coal miner having worked for the Sovereign Coal Company. He loved going riding whether it was in his truck or his four-wheeler. He was a member of the UMWA and was of the Church of God faith. Boyd was a good daddy and loved by his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, best friend, & caregiver: Maebell Hurley; daughter: Ida (Ricky) Wolford of Phelps, KY; step-daughter: Annie Stump of Jamboree, KY; one brother: Frank (Ruth) Hurley of Freemont, OH; two half-brothers: Raymond (Dianne) Hurley of Stopover, KY, Jessie Hurley of Jamboree, KY; half-sister: Debbie Hurley of Phelps, KY; one grandson: Mikey Fonner Jr. of Georgetown, KY; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family & friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, August 31, 2018 in the chapel of the Jones & West Funeral Home, Phelps, KY with Reverend Marvin Casey officiating.
Burial will follow in the Whitt Cemetery, Beech Creek, Jamboree, KY with family & friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will begin Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 6:00 P.M. with special services Thursday at 7:00 P.M at the funeral home.
