James "Jimmy" Dotson

James “Jimmy” Dotson, 76, of Majestic, KY, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Signature Healthcare, Pikeville, KY.  He was born July 3, 1941 at Majestic, a son of the late Ira & Dorothy Blackburn Dotson.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two nephews who were like brothers to him: Gary Keith Dotson & Zachary Dean Avina.

Jimmy was a former end-loader operator for Daniel, Morris, and Marshall Strip Mining of Majestic.  He loved fishing, and camping with family & friends.

Survivors include three sisters: Della (John) Chapp of Sandwich, IL, Helen Hall of Stopover, KY, Ella Mae (Ignacio) Paredes of Anna, IL; a niece who was like a sister: Martha Blankenship of Majestic; six brothers: Ira Jr. (Polly) Dotson of Cardington, OH, Franklin (Marcella) Dotson, Johnny (Lillian) Dotson, Donnie (Alice) Dotson, Delbert (Irene) Dotson, and Adlai (Bonnie Gail) Dotson, all of Majestic; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins & friends to cherish his memory.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, May 27, 2018 at the Jones & West Funeral Home with Reverend Doug Maynard officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Buddy Mounts Cemetery, Majestic, KY. 

Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home with special services 7:00 P.M.

Jimmy’s family would like to thank all his nurses & nurse aides at Signature Healthcare for all they did for him.  He loved you all.  Thanks also to the ER, nurses & aides at Pikeville Medical Center.
