Jerry “Dick” Hatfield, 57, of Phelps, KY, departed this life on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Pikeville Medical Center, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Jerry was born October 24, 1962 at Freeburn, KY to his late parents Jeff and Ann Dotson Hatfield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one niece, Priscilla Hatfield McCoy.
Jerry was a former truck driver having worked for Jones Oil Company for 25 years. Jerry was an outdoorsman, life was best with a hunting or fishing trip with his special friends, Vinten McCoy, Dave “Pollack”Clusky, Zenas ‘Mush” Dotson, Jerry “Smoothie” Ratliff and Craig “P-nut” Griffith.
Those left to honor his memory include his daughter, Michelle (Michael) Blankenship of Phelps, KY; one son, Jerry “Nathan” (Amber) Hatfield of Burnside, KY; two brothers, Jeffrey (Linda) Hatfield, Mark Hatfield; one sister, Glenda (Sammy) Stevens; three granddaughters, Kylie and Kacie Blankenship and Natalie Hatfield. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at the Hatfield Family Cemetery, Jamboree, KY with Odis Blankenship officiating. Serving as pallbearers were his special friends, along with Larry Keith Wolford, Melvin McCoy, Mark Ashley Hatfield, and Bobby Nichols.
