Jesse J. Campbell

Jesse J. Campbell, 82, of Stopover, KY, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Pikeville Medical Center.  He was born September 5, 1936 in Gates, WV, a son of the late Robert Lee & Oma Ferrell Campbell. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Billy Campbell; and three sisters: Mary Hurley, Becky Yates, and Bertha Campbell.

Jesse was a cabinet maker by trade, and a member of the Gooslin Bottom Pentecostal Church of God.  He was also a member of the Freeburn Senior Citizens Center, where he thoroughly enjoyed spending time.  Jesse also enjoyed bowling & playing horseshoes, but especially loved playing cornhole.  He earned many trophies at the cornhole championships held at Jenny Wiley State Park over the years.

Jesse is survived by one brother: Robert Campbell of Stopover, KY; a good friend: Shane Dotson of Majestic, KY; and a host of nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Jones & West Funeral Home, Phelps, KY, with Reverends: Benny Freeman & Odis Blankenship officiating.

Burial will follow in the Hurley Family Cemetery, Stopover, KY with Dutch Hurley, Shane Dotson, Cody Dotson, Shane Hurley, Jeff Campbell, and J.R. Prater serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 10:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
