Tunis Smith

Tunis Smith, 75, of Canada, Kentucky passed away Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Pikeville Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.  He was born October 6, 1944 in Canada, Kentucky, a son of the late Bill and Alta Smith.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Mary Frances Smith and several brothers and sisters.

Tunis was a member of the USMC and a member of the Stone lodge #890 F&AM. He enjoyed being outside, working on cars, working in his garden and listening to music. He also enjoyed helping anyone he could.

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy (Dwight) Bogar of Sidney, Kentucky and son, Tunis Keith (Karen) Smith of Louisville, Kentucky, and grandson, Dalton Smith.  He is also survived by brothers Bobby Smith, Billy (Judy) Smith and Kenneth (Janice) Smith and sisters Sylvia Williamson, Ruth Mounts and Mable (Chuck) Stevens, as well as, special sisters-n-law Cindy (Bill) Krass of Dumfries, Virginia and Betty Lou (John) Williams of Huntsville, Alabama. Special friends Paul (Sandy) Harrison, Mike (Beth) Coleman and Fred Kimbrough.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In accordance with Tunis’ wishes, cremation is taking place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
