Alexander “Johnny” Hurley of Phelps, KY passed away September 30, 2020 at his residence. He was born June 13, 1948 at Stopover, KY the son of the late Alexander and Mildred “Wolford” Hurley. He was 72 years old. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a brother: Ronald “Paul” Hurley.
Johnny was a United States Army Veteran who loved his children and grandchildren. He was a coal truck driver having worked for Corbin Coal and enjoyed working with trucks. Johnny also enjoyed his boat and loved to fish.
Survivors remaining to honor his memory include his wife: Beverly “Coleman” Hurley, a son: Adam Hurley of Phelps, KY, two daughters: Christi Hurley of Winchester, KY and Brittany Hurley of Stopover, KY, a brother: Eddie “Peter” (Janie) Hurley of Stopover, KY, a sister in law: Phyllis Hurley of Stopover, KY, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by a host of other family, neighbors, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 4, 2020 at 1:00 P.M. at the Jones & West Funeral Home of Phelps, KY with the Reverends Odis Blankenship and Benny Freeman officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Belfry DAV Chapter 141.
Burial will follow in the Slone Cemetery of KBC Hollow, Phelps, KY.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6:00 -10:00 P.M. with special services at 7:00 P.M.
