Darrell Eugene Mounts

Darrell Eugene Mounts, 69, of Phyllis, Ky, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at his residence. He was born May 8, 1950 at Vulcan, West Virginia, a son of the late Amos & Shirley “Wolford” Mounts.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Sue Mounts who died at birth; two brothers, Roland Clayton Wolford, Bobby Mounts; and a sister, Della Rae Caupp. 

Darrell was the cherished husband of Eva “Anderson” Mounts.  He was a retired truck driver.  Darrell loved riding his horse when his health permitted, and he was a wonderful grandfather who enjoyed his grandchildren.  

Those left to honor his memory include his wife Eva “Anderson” Mounts of Phyllis, KY; one daughter Shirley (Reed) Gillespie of Kimper, KY; four brothers Steve (Betty) Mounts of Phelps, KY, Robert (Tammy) Mounts of Delaware, Amos (Shelly) Mounts of Dayton, Ohio, Larry Wolford of Delaware; two grandchildren Matthew Justice of Kimper, KY, & Adia Gillespie of Kimper, KY, and a host of family and friends.  

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 7, 2019 at the Jones & West Funeral Home with Reverends Bud Crum & Gene Gross officiating.  

Burial will follow in the Freeburn Community Cemetery, Freeburn, Ky.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Thursday & Friday at the funeral home with special services nightly at 7:00 P.M.
