Earsel Bowman Obituary

Earsel Lee Bowman, 52, of McAndrews, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on April 3rd, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 4th, 1967 to the late Clyde Bowman Sr. and Ruby (Clevenger) Bowman. He is also proceeded in death by his siblings Diana (Bowman) Sellards, Clyde Bowman Jr., and stillborn infant brother.

Earsel was the Assistant Pastor of Octavia Freewill Baptist Church, alongside Brother Dwayne Yates, where he mentored many young and old Christians alike. He was ordained into the ministry on June 9th, 2001 at the Edo Freewill Baptist Church. He was most passionate about the Rescue and Recovery Program he led at Octavia with his best friend, Gary Lewis. He was equally passionate about and worked with other churches in the community with their R&R Programs, where he made a special bond with Benny Freeman, of whom he accredits helping begin the program at Octavia. If you are battling addiction, know you are not alone! Reach out to any one of the churches involved with this program and they will help you.

Earsel worked at Excel Mining #4 for several years to provide for his family. He made many friends along his journey there and impacted many lives. The people he worked with always knew two things about him, which was that he loved his family more than anything and he loved the Lord the most.

Earsel’s love for the Lord and his family shone bright to everyone he encountered. To him, there was no greater joy than getting to minister in song with his wife and children. His main goal was to live a life that led others to Christ and that he did! The impact he had on not only his church, but also the whole community will forever be remembered and cherished.

Those left to carry on his legacy and ministry include his devoted wife of 31 years, Sheri Bowman. His amazing babies, Cassie, Courtney (Corey), Caity, and Jacob Bowman. His favorite brother-in-law, who was more like a son, Jeremy (Mandy) Reynolds and his children who were like grandbabies, Keileigh and Wyatt Reynolds. His older brothers, Larry (Susie) Bowman, Kenny Bowman, and Danny (Vinia) Bowman and his sister-in-law Lois Bowman. His cherished father and mother-in-law, Gerria and Barbara Reynolds. Also left to mourn his passing are a host of nieces, nephews, “adopted” children, family, and his wonderful church family.

Private graveside services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Monday, April 6, 2020 at the Bowman Family Cemetery, McAndrews, KY with Reverend Dwayne Yates officiating.

Those wishing to pay their respects to Earsel may arrive at the Octavia Freewill Baptist Church at approximately 12:15 and do so from their vehicles as he passes by.  A public Celebration of Life service will be announced later after the Covid-19 Pandemic is over.
