Jesse William Compton age 79, of Majestic, KY entered into rest Tuesday May 5, 2020 at his residence. He was born August 8, 1940 in Pike County, KY the son of the late Charlie and Mary (Dotson) Compton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four sisters; Inis Blankenship, Eunice New, Edis Blankenship and Sally Compton, two brothers; Grant and George Compton.
Jesse never lingered and was always busy. In addition to working as a coal miner he worked in the logging business and was also the owner and operator of Compton’s Mobile Home Movers.
He was a United States Army veteran who loved his family and was good at spoiling his grandchildren. He liked to go berry picking and enjoyed other hobbies such as hunting and fishing. Jesse also loved church and was a member of the Woodman Community Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife Linda (Wolford) Compton, three sons; Terry (Ruby) Compton, Chris (Misty) Compton and Jeff Compton all of Majestic, KY, a stepson; Chris (Sarah) Hurley of Johnson City, TN, step daughter; April (Ryan) Hager of Johnson City, TN, grandchildren; Isabella Faith, Chloe Lashae, Olivia Brooke, Jordan, Gabriel and Christopher.
Due to the Covid 19 restrictions there will be a private family viewing with burial following in the Freeburn Community Cemetery.
