It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ollie Marie Smith age 100, longtime resident of Stopover, Kentucky. She passed away at Pikeville Medical Center on April 18th, 2024.
Ollie was born at Blackey, Virginia on February 24th, 1924, a loving daughter of the late John and Mary “Hurley” Wolford. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded by her husband, Lyle Smith, a brother, Carl Wolford, three sisters, Freda Rife, Madge Burkes, and Zella Sunderland.
Ollie was of the Christian faith and a proud homemaker. She worked during World War II making ammunition in Maryland. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and sewing.
Those remaining to cherish Ollie’s memory include her son, Wiley Smith (Nedia Hurley Adkins) of Lower Elk; and granddaughter, Debbie (Mack) Cisco of Kimper, Kentucky. Ollie also leaves to mourn her passing her nieces, nephews, great nieces, and nephew and her extended family & friends.
The family will receive friends at 6:00 P.M. Friday, April 19th, 2024, at Woodman Community Church.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon Saturday, April 20th, 2024, with Odis Blankenship and William Prater officiating.
Interment will conclude at Freida Smith Cemetery in Woodman, Kentucky.
