Bobby Ray Blankenship

Bobby Ray Blankenship, 82, of Pikeville, KY, passed away on Monday, December 24, 2018 at Pikeville Medical Center.  He was born March 21, 1936 in Argo, KY, a son of the late Edward and Stella “Baker” Blankenship.   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son: William Allen Blankenship; two brothers: Joe & Buddy Blankenship; and one sister: Janice Rose.

Bobby was a former coal miner and was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.  He loved attending services in various churches in the area.  Bobby loved coon hunting in his younger days and was an avid fisherman.  He also enjoyed tinkering on things in his spare time.

Bobby is survived by his wife: Sharon Blankenship of Pikeville, KY; two daughters: Carmie Murphy of Shelbiana, KY, Mary Carol (Joey) Hamilton of Elkhorn City, KY; one step-daughter: Shan Newsome of Pikeville, KY; two step-sons: Timmy Gene (Maria) Boyd of Island Creek, KY, Jordan Holbrook of Pikeville, KY; three sisters: Kathly Bryant of Bucyrus, OH, Phyllis (Joe) Sweeney of Bucyrus, OH, Pauline (Robert) Stump of Belfry, KY; five brothers: Willie (Pat) Blankenship of Stopover, KY, Marvin (Barb) Blankenship of Bucyrus, OH, Grover Lee (Dianne) Blankenship of Bucyrus, OH, William (Gail) Blankenship of Freeburn, KY; sister-in-law: Helen Blankenship of Majestic, KY; ten grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, family & friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, December 27, 2018 in the Jones & West Funeral Home with Reverends: Glen Hughes and Billy Compton officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Blankenship Cemetery, Stopover, KY.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home with special services at 7:00 P.M.
