Lizzie Blankenship Obituary

Lizzie Blankenship, 90, of Phelps, formerly of Woodman, KY, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Pikeville Medical Center. She was born July 6, 1928 at Woodman, KY, a daughter of the late Drew & Verlie “V” Sanson Sellards.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Herbert Blankenship; one son: Douglas Sellards; one grandson: Bruce Sneed Jr.; two brothers: Archie & Delbert Sellards; one sister: Eddie Lee; two sons-in-law: Michael Dotson & Bruce Sneed; and a special lifelong friend: Sylvia Blankenship.

Lizzie was a homemaker and a member of the Stopover Freewill Baptist Church. She was “Maw” to everyone.

Lizzie was a loving mother to three sons: Randy Blankenship (Amanda Collins) & Archie Blankenship of Woodman, KY, Ronald (Martha) Blankenship of Majestic, KY; four daughters: Maggie (Lonzo) Rife & Linda Dotson of Hurley, VA, Patsy Sneed (Danny Justice) of Elizabethton, TN and Annetta (Terry) Ratliff of Taylorville, NC. Lizzie was also a wonderful grandmother to nineteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren, and will be remembered as well by a host of family & friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at the Stopover Freewill Baptist Church with Revs: Larry Rife, Odis Blankenship & Ervin Dotson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Blankenship-Sanson Cemetery, Woodman, KY with the following serving as pallbearers: Blake Hensley, Austin Sellards, Brent Blankenship, Jamie Hatfield, Michael Blankenship, Mitchell Blankenship, Greg Collins, Christopher Dotson, Bobby Duty, Timmy Blankenship, Richard Ratliff, Tad Ratliff, Jr. Blankenship, Jonathon Hutchinson, Adam Hutchinson & Adam Hutchinson Jr.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Monday and Tuesday at the church with services nightly at 7:00 P.M.
