Peyton "Mikey" Mitchell

Peyton Michael “Mikey” Mitchell, 43, of Freeburn, KY, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Pikeville Medical Center. He was born February 1, 1975 at South Williamson, KY, a son of Junior Ray & Ethel Mae “Chapman” Mitchell of Freeburn, KY.

Mikey was a former coalminer, having worked for Rockhouse #2 Mines.  He was a hard worker and was of the Church of God Faith.  Mikey had a love for the outdoors, enjoyed taking care of his animals, and loved spending time with family & friends.

In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife: Melissa “Norman” Mitchell of Freeburn, KY; one daughter: Taylor Madison Mitchell of Freeburn, KY; two brothers: Alex Ray Mitchell (Denise Isom) of Abington, VA, & Tony Mitchell (Kirsten Slone) of Freeburn, KY; father and mother-in-law: Howard (Sherry) Norman of Freeburn, KY; special brother-in-law who was like a brother: Michael Shawn (Chassie) Norman of Freeburn, KY ; five nieces: Alexis Mitchell, Caitlyn Norman, Michaela Norman, Havanna Mitchell & Bailey “Boo” Norman;  one nephew: Braxton Mitchell; special uncles: Johnny (Debbie) Mitchell of Thacker, WV & Randy Wood of Vulcan, WV; the neighborhood children; and a host of many friends & loved ones.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the Barnshee Church of God, Freeburn, KY with Reverends Bobby Dale Wolford and Benny Freeman officiating.

Interment will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, KY.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the church with special services by Reverends Doug Maynard and Randy Wood beginning at 7:00 P.M.
