Scotty Church Jr.

Scotty Church Jr., 69, of Thacker, WV, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at McDowell Nursing & Rehabilitation in Gary, WV.  He was born September 8, 1948 in Thacker, WV, a son of the late Scotty Sr. & Virgie Sincell Church.  In addition to his parents, Scotty was preceded in death by two brothers: Wayne & Gary Church; and two sisters: Irene Hess & Mary Yates.

Scotty was a disabled coal miner, having worked for Eastern Coal Company.  He was a member of the Church of God in Jesus Name, Phelps, KY, and UMWA #5737.  In his spare time, Scotty enjoyed watching Westerns.

Those left to cherish his memory include three brothers: Alonzo (Loretta) Church & Floyd Church, both of Thacker, WV, and Rocky (Lynn) Church of Delbarton, WV; three sisters: Linda Church of Thacker, WV, Lois (Bill) Compton of Red Jacket, WV, and Joann Kitts of Huntington, WV; special nephew: Alonzo “Buddy” Church of Thacker, WV; and a host of nieces & nephews  and family & friends.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. Friday, April 20, 2018 at Church of God in Jesus Name, Phelps, KY with reverends Opie Ray Harris & Rick Jackson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Thacker Hollow Cemetery, Thacker, WV with family & friends serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Thursday at the church with special services at 7:00 P.M.
