Adlai Dotson Obituary

Adlai Dotson, 67, of Majestic, KY, passed away on March 15, 2020 at his residence in Majestic, KY.  He was born December 2, 1952 in Matewan, WV, son of the late Ira & Dorothy (Blackburn) Dotson.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Colton Kinzer Dotson; three brothers, James (Jimmy) Dotson, Franklin Dotson, and Zackary Avina.

Adlai Dotson spent the majority of his working career as a foreman for the Majestic Collieries Coal Company.  He was of the Church of Christ faith, having been baptized at the Majestic Church of Christ.  Adlai enjoyed fishing, hunting, bird watching and digging ginseng with family and friends.  His family knew him as a jack of all trades, from machinist to carpenter.  He was a devoted husband, who was especially proud of his children and grandchildren.  Adlai was a loving brother and a role model to his nieces and nephews.  He loved his dog Jigzy and taking care of his farm animals.  

Adlai is survived by his wife, Bonnie Gale (Maynard) Dotson; one son, Adlai Kirk (Tiffany) Dotson of Kimper, KY; two daughters, Gina Renee (Danny) Francis of Majestic, KY and Amanda Gail (Kevin) Justus of Paris, KY; four brothers, Ira Jr (Polly) Dotson, of Cardington, OH, Johnny (Lillian) Dotson, Donnie (Alice) Dotson, Delbert (Irene) Dotson all of Majestic, KY; four sisters, Della Jean (John) Chapp of IL, Helen Jean Hall of Stopover, KY, Ella Mae (Iggy) Paredes of IL, Martha (Ronald) Blankenship of Majestic, KY; five grandchildren, Kinzer Cordale Dotson, Abigail Kearstin Pugh, Landon Cole Dotson, Walker Dylan Justus, Avery Kirk Dotson; one step-grandson Trey Francis, and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. March 18, 2020 at the Jones & West Funeral Home with Doug Maynard and Marshall Daniels officiating.

Burial will follow in the Bent Ridge Cemetery, Meta, KY.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. March 17, 2020 at the funeral home with services at 7:00 P.M.
