Barbara Carolyn Dotson

Barbara Carolyn Dotson, 79, of Phelps, KY, transitioned to her Heavenly home November 13th, 2023, while inpatient at Pikeville Medical Center. 

She was born January 1st, 1944, in Pikeville, KY, a cherished daughter of the late Roy K. & Edythe Marie “Day” Dotson. 

In addition to Carolyn’s parents, she was also preceded by her beloved grandson, Nick Hensley who she raised as her own, and her sister Susie Dotson.

Carolyn dedicated her life to being an educator for 31 years before retiring from the Pike County school system.  She had a passion for teaching, and she adored her school children,  cherishing them dearly.  In her spare time, she enjoyed working crossword puzzles and shopping.  She enjoyed her family and spending time with them.  Carolyn was a member of the Lords House Church.  She was a beautiful soul and will be greatly missed by all who loved her. 

Those left to remember Carolyn’s love include her husband of 54 years, Glen Dotson of Phelps, KY; son, David (Kimberly) Dotson of Phelps, KY; daughters, Barbara Dotson of Pikeville KY, and Edythe (Ernest) Williamson of Salyersville, KY; a brother, Ken Dotson of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Autumn & Alex Dotson, Miranda, Noah, and Riley Spann, Kameron, Kyle, and Montana Williamson, Tyler and Kandi Blackburn; two great grandchildren, McKynley and Cason Adkins.  Carolyn also leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends. 

The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 15th, 2023, at the Lords House Church at Phelps, KY.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the church with pastors Mitchell Bowling, Gerald Fields, and Chris Casey officiating. 

Interment will conclude at the George Dotson Cemetery in Phelps, KY with friends serving as Pallbearers.
