Bobby Joe Mounts

Bobby Joe Mounts, 54, of Phelps, KY, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021 at Pikeville Medical Center. He was born November 24, 1966 in Williamson, WV, the son of Steve & Betty Mounts of Phelps.

He was preceded in death by one sister: Stephanie Mounts.

Bobby was a security guard at Kentucky Secure of, West Virginia. He was a former custodian for the Pike County Board of Education, and a former strip mine coal truck driver. He was of the Church of God Faith. Bobby loved fishing, riding four-wheelers, and trips to Panama City beach. He was a talented musician who played guitar & mandolin. He loved playing music with his daddy.

In addition to his parents, Steve & Betty, others left to cherish his memory include one son, Steven (Brenda) Mounts of Vance, AL; one sister: Patricia (Brian) Preece of Thomasville, NC; his companion, Jeannie Sargent of Phelps, KY; two grandchildren, Katelyn and Kenesha Mounts of Vance, AL; three children he loved dearly: Josh, Alyssa, & Sarah Sargent; two nieces: Brianna and Hannah Preece of Thomasville, NC; a host of family & friends; and of course, Bobby’s dog, Sadie.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon Monday, March 22, 2021 at the Gooslin Botton Pentecostal Church with Reverends Benny Freeman & Steve Asbury officiating.

Burial will follow in the Wolford Family Cemetery, Phelps, KY, with Steven, Brian, Josh, Clifton, & Parker serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Sunday at the church with special services at 7:00 P.M.
