Carl Hendrick Blankenship, 73, of Freeburn, KY, passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Pikeville Medical Center. He was born May 22, 1947 in Majestic, KY, a son of the late Alex & Eva “Robinette” Blankenship. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Carl Richard & Todd Allen Blankenship, and one brother, Roy Lee Blankenship.
Carl was a retired coal miner having worked for Chisholm Coal Corporation. He was a member of the Barrenshe Church of God where he served as a deacon, minister, and taught Bible study. He loved studying God’s word.
On January 30, 1970, he married the love of his life, Linda Sue Blankenship, who survives him. Last year they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Carl is also survived by two daughters, Carla Rene (Chris) Belcher of Logan, WV, Misty Dawn (Michael) Mounts of Freeburn, KY; one brother, Alex JR (Rhonda) Blankenship of Hebron, Wisconsin; two sisters, Debra Blankenship of Booneville, KY, Connie Blankenship of Phelps, KY; grandchildren, Mikey Mounts, Ashley & Austin Wolford, Colby Blankenship, Amber & Eric Baker, Miranda Blankenship, Jordan Blankenship & C.J. Johnson; ten great grandchildren; and a host of family & friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at the Barrenshe Church of God with Reverends Bobby Dale Wolford, and Doug Maynard officiating.
Burial will follow in the Blankenship Family Cemetery, Barrenshe, Freeburn, KY.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Monday at the church.
Face coverings will be required due the Covid-19 Pandemic.
