Cleveland Griffey

Cleveland Griffey 74, of Phelps, KY passed away Thursday June 17, 2021, at Pikeville Medical Center. He was born May 23, 1947, in Jamboree, KY the son of Alonzo and Martha “Pig” Griffey.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved nephew: John Paul.

Cleveland was a United States Army veteran who worked as a forklift operator for Toyota. He was a great family person, a loving father and grandfather who also loved his nieces and nephews. Cleveland enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening, especially flowers. He was a non-denomination, Christian.

Survivors remaining to cherish his memory include his sons: Griffith McClain Griffey, Neville Lazlo Seville Griffey both of Asheboro, NC and Timothy Griffey of Pike County, KY, daughters: Charity Nicole Griffey, Hope Noel Moore, both of Asheboro, NC and Amanda Blankenship all of Asheboro, NC, a brother: Johnny Griffey, two sisters: Bonnie (Kellione) Flanery of Cynthiana, KY and Gladys (Mullins) Mahon of White Sulphur Springs, WV, eleven grandchildren: Shamon, Tyler, Errin, Malek, Abagail, Arianne, Marcella, Zachariah, Chelsa, Aailiayh,  Bryanna, and one great grandchild, eight nephews: Doug, Mark, Roger, Jason, Michael, Keith, Victor, and Barry, and a special niece: Kas Sandra Kellione. He is also survived by a host of extended family, neighbors, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Jones & West Funeral Home of Phelps, KY Sunday, June 20, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. with members of the family speaking and Military Rites by the DAV Chapter 141

of Belfry, KY.

Burial will follow in the Griffey Family Cemetery of Phelps, KY.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Saturday evening at 6:00 P.M.
