Colleen “Connie” Wolford-New passed away peacefully Friday, February 9, 2024, in
Palmetto, Florida.
Connie and her twin brother, Carl “Bud” Wolford were born at Stopover on June 22,
1943, children of the late J. C. and Olga Sansom Wolford. Besides her parents, Connie
was preceded in death by nine siblings and one son, Douglas Carl Blankenship.
Connie is survived by her son, Kelly Blankenship, of Maineville, Ohio; her husband,
Roscoe New, of Port Charlotte, Florida; two grandchildren, Morgan Maringer, and her
husband, Brandon, of Palmetto, Florida, and Brandon Blankenship of Lebanon, Ohio;
eight great-grandchildren: Pierston, Piper, Paxton, Piabella, and Portland Maringer;
Harlee Michaelis, River, and Meadow Blankenship; one brother, Buford “Pete” Wolford
of Majestic; her first husband and best friend, Doug Blankenship; her former daughter-in-
law and caregiver, Kiesha Moreland; her many nephews and nieces who she loved and
thought of as her children. She is also survived by two special friends, Mildred Barnes of
South Lebanon, Ohio, and Shirley Hatfield Justice of Majestic.
Connie loved books and she learned to read at an early age. At home when there were
chores to be done, Connie could be found huddled up with a book. She often said that the
reason she learned to speed read was because she knew sooner or later, she would be
found and would have to help with the housework.
Connie worked for several years as a receptionist at King’s Island Inn, in Mason, Ohio. She
used the skills she learned there to plan trips for her family. She knew how to talk to
other receptionists to get the best deals. Connie loved the beach, but she also loved the
mountains and was proud of her mountain heritage.
Connie’s family would like to thank you for your prayers and words of encouragement.
Visitation with the family will be Sunday, February 18, 2024, from 6-9 pm at Jones and
