Eugene Blankenship, 73, passed away at his residence, in Stopover, KY, on Saturday November 16, 2019. He was born July 20, 1946 to the late Orville and Vear (Maynard) Blankenship.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Danny Ray Blankenship.
Eugene was a retired Coal miner, who in his free time, enjoyed being quite the jokester, always cutting up and playing pranks on people. He was a family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren. Eugene was a man of the Christian faith, who adored his horses and enjoyed farming his land, where he loved to spend time at home up Camp Creek.
Those left to honor his memory include two sons: Leon Blankenship and Michael (Cinda) Blankenship, both of Stopover, KY; four daughters: Cindy (Tim) Messer of Georgetown, KY; Robin (Jamie) Thacker of Pikeville, KY; Lucy (William) Ray of Stopover, KY; Vicky (Randy) Wood of Vulcan, WV; three brothers: Billy (Debbie) Blankenship; Clell Blankenship; Ronnie Dean (Missy) Blankenship, all of Stopover, KY; two sisters: Okie Layne & Betty (Carl) Mullins both of Stopover, KY; twelve grandchildren, one of whom was very special to him, a grandson and his neighbor, Logan Blankenship; seven great grandchildren with two on the way, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 20, 2019 at the Jones & West Funeral Home with Reverend Harold Layne officiating.
Burial will follow in the Blankenship Family Cemetery, Stopover, KY.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home with special services at 7:00 P.M.
