Evelyn Ingersoll Obituary

Evelyn Ingersoll age 84 of Red Jacket, WV. departed this life on Oct. 7, 2021 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Born December 9, 1936 in Matewan, WV, a daughter of the late Leonard Collins, and Clara Auxier. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Levi James Ingersoll, and two daughters Gail Marie Lambert and Joyce K. Johnson. Brother Earsel Roy Collins, sisters Fona Mae Patterson and Joyce Kohari.

She is survived by a son James (Patricia) Ingersoll of Knox, Indiana, daughters Teresa Lynn Mitchem of North Matewan, Louise Peachie (Michael) Dingess, and Lisa Harvey both of Matewan, WV. Laura (Don) Epling of Louisa, Ky.  Sandra (David) Chafins of Newtown, WV, Florann Daniels, and Angie (Kevin) Sherpinskas both of Red Jacket, WV. and Vonda Ingersoll of Marion, Ohio. Evelyn is also survived by brother Danny R. (Brenda) Collins of Buskirk, Ky. and sister Florann Hatfield of Clinton, Ohio, Evelyn is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Evelyn was a member of the Faith Mission Church at McCarr, Ky. for 50 years. She enjoyed attending church and strived to grow daily in her Christian life. She was a homemaker and wife of a coal miner. A woman of strong character who brought up her children in a Christian home. She loved to sing all the time especially to her grandchildren. She loved sitting on her front porch and was often seen waving to everyone passing by and often stopping to talk. Evelyn loved her WV mountains and her Mitchell Branch Holler.

Visitation will begin Monday October 11, 2021 at 6:00 PM at the Faith Mission Church at McCarr, Ky. with a special service at 7:00 PM.   Funeral services will be Tuesday October 12, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jimmy Fields officiating.  Burial will be at Alley Cemetery in Blackberry, Ky.
