Marvin Smith of Phelps, KY passed away Friday October 9, 2020 at the Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center, Pikeville, KY. He was born September 5, 1937 at Phelps, KY the son of the late Clarence and Myrtle “Coleman” Smith. He was 83 years old.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Pauline Smith, sisters: Emma Jean Smith and Racine “Smith” Hatfield, and a brother: Vernon Smith.
Marvin was a coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers of America. He liked to coon hunt and enjoyed taking drives with his wife Pauline when they were able. Marvin was a really good father and loved his granddaughter and great grandson.
Survivors remaining to honor his memory include his son: Marcus (Margie) Smith of Phelps, KY, brothers: Frank Stirl Smith (Delphia), Clarence Jr. Smith (Ella Mae), Willard Smith (Patricia), Bill James Smith (Debbie) and Virgil Smith, sisters: Irene “Smith” Ratliff (Russell), Annetta Smith and Beatrice “Smith” Dixon (David), He is also survived by several nieces and nephews as well as several grandnieces and grandnephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the Jones & West Funeral Home with Elders Jimmy Lee Smith, Tim Slone, & Jeff Dotson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery, Smith Fork, Phelps, KY,
Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home with special services at 7:00 P.M.
