Robert Samuel Hurley

Robert Samuel Hurley of Stopover, KY passed away Sunday October 11, 2020 at the Pikeville Medical Center of Pikeville, KY. He was born October 24, 1943 in Buchanan County, VA the son of the late Samuel and Pauline “Hurley” Hurley. He was 76 years old.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife: Carole T. Hurley, a son: Shane Allen Hurley, and a brother: Roger Lee Hurley.

Robert was a coal miner who loved spending time with his family, children, grandchildren, and friends. He loved hunting and caring for his horses and farm animals.  Robert also enjoyed fishing and reading his bible. He was of the Pentecostal faith and a member of the Family Worship Center.

Survivors remaining to honor his memory include four sons: Robert Samuel Hurley Jr. of Phelps, KY, Ronnie Ray Hurley (Donna) of Pikeville, KY, Shannon James Dewayne Hurley (fiancée Angie Stacy) of Grundy VA, and Robert Austin Tanner Hurley (Mary Lou) of Woodman, KY, two daughters: Diana Mounts (Bryan) of OH and Michelle Daniels (fiancé Terry Brizendine) of Phelps, KY, a brother: Donald Roberts (Debbie) of Camp Creek, KY, ten grandchildren: Jennifer, Cindy, Diana, Jason, Stacy, Micheal, Jeffery, Cadie, Jeremiah, and Stephanie, his two best friends: Donald Roberts and Ervin Dotson. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Jones & West Funeral Home of Phelps, KY, Thursday, October 15,2020 at 1:00 P.M. with the Reverends Ronnie Hurley and Ervin Hurley officiating.

Burial will follow in the Blankenship Cemetery of Middle Elk, Stopover, KY.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday and Wednesday evening with special services at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday.
